There is a wealth of information on the sport of curling available on the World Wide Web. We have tried to make some of this information available to you on this site. Here are some resources:

  • The Rules of Curling. It help to understand the rules of a sport before taking it on. They're not as complicated as they might sound!
  • All About Curling. This document is a full description of the sport of curling.
  • The ABC's of Curling. This Flash® animation was put together by the people at the Canadian Curling Association. It highlights some of the basics of the game.
  • Curling rink dimensions. The playing surface in curling is called a rink, or a sheet. There are very specific guidelines as to the size of each part of the sheet.
  • Types of granite. Ever wonder what a curling stone was really made of? 19kg (42lbs) of pure Scottish or Welsh granite, as described in this article.
  • Basic shots. To play the game, you'll have to understand some basic strategy. It's not always about putting it on the button!
  • Ferbey's Zone System. Sweeping is integral to curling. It's the sweepers' job to estimate where the rock should come to rest. The Zone System can simplify communication between teammates.
  • If you are one for reading, you should pick up a copy of "Curling For Dummies®." Even experienced curlers can learn something from this book.
